Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016 is being held in Delhi from 7 -11 October 2015 at NSIC Grounds. It aims to showcase the latest trends for the upcoming season.
To cater to the changing needs of the Indian market, this event brings forth established designers from across the country along with newbies. Some of the designers that will showcase their collections are:
The opening designer, Sanjay Garg is a debutant at AIFW. He pursued his fashion studies from IICD (Indian Institute of Crafts and Design) and went to hone his skills at NIFT, Delhi. Thereafter, he launched his own label of sarees, stoles and fabrics hoping to offer pure handlooms. He is known for his innovations in chanderi making it dapper for modern women.
Sanjay states, “The garments in this collection aim to bridge the gap between textile and fashion, and at the same time, blur the categories of traditional and modern, old and new, past and present. The garments present technical advancements in Mashru that make the ‘old’ textile contemporary while retaining the luxuriousness that has always been an important part of it.”
He further adds, “It’s a matter of great honour to open the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016. This opportunity is a testament of FDCI’s effort to bring Indian textile at the forefront of the fashion industry and truly celebrates the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
Anamika Khanna is presenting her collection in association with SPACES Home and Beyond. She is known for blending the traditional styles with western silhouettes and tailoring. She is also the first Indian designer to have an international label Ana mika. She has displayed her collections at Paris Fashion Week and Bridal Asia.
Talking about her collection at AIFW, Anamika stated, “Showcasing my first Ready to Wear collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer’16 – It is an experiment and the idea is to essentially present a collection bounded by no rules.”
