Samsung has launched the new iteration of the Galaxy Note – the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The new device supports wireless charging and comes with an interactive S-Pen. The phone comes to India after its recent global launch.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 specs:
- 5.7 inch display
- 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution
- 2.1 GHz Octa-core Exynos 7420 processor
- 4 GB RAM
- 32 GB internal memory
- 16 MP primary camera
- 5 MP front facing camera
- Android v5.1 Lollipop
- 3220 mAh battery
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes with many of the same functions as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but major changes come in the form of the hardware while incremental changes have been made to the TouchWiz UI for this handset. The design will immediately revoke similarities with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. While the S6 Edge comes with a curved display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes with a curved rear. Both support wireless charging and fast charging. The curved back just makes the Samsung Galaxy Note much easier on the palm than previous iterations.
The S-Pen functionality has now been endowed with a push button that makes it easy to take the S-Pen out. The S-Pen functionality has been further enhanced with features such as Scroll Write and the ability to take notes even when the display is off. While Samsung Pay is yet to make its appearance in India, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes with a fingerprint scanner to validate financial transactions.
The Note 5’s 5.7-inch display comes with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440p. Inside, it comes with a 2.1 GHz Octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset, along with 4 GB of RAM. The device comes in both 32 GB and 64 GB versions. There is no MicroSD slot on board, but the device comes with 100 GB OneDrive cloud storage.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rear cam comes with Autofocus, OIS and the camera app supports new modes such as Live Broadcast which can directly stream your video to YouTube from your phone itself. Along with that, it comes with a 5-megapixel front cam. The device runs on Android Lollipop v5.1 out-of-the-box, but we expect that Samsung will hand out an Android M update as soon as it comes out for the device.
The pricing of the device is on expected lines, at Rs. 53,900 for the 32 GB model and Rs. 59,900 for the 64 GB model. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be available starting September 20 2015.
