Bollywood 2016: 10 Movies watch out for

2016 is upon us and 2015 has just wrapped. In terms of cinema, it has been a mixed year with many big releases missing the cut and some unique movies doing pretty well.

The year began with Badlapur, got into the groove with Piku and Bajirao Mastani and finally ended on a period note with Bajirao Mastani.

Bollywood is losing its lustre of masala movies and moving towards better scripts. So what does Bollywood 2016 hold out for you?

Ashutosh Gowariker and Hrithik Roshan get back together to make Mahenjo Daro, which is placed in 2600 BC Indus valley civilisation. Music is given by AR Rahman.

Karan Johar’s next is a comedy starring Fawad Khan, Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Amrita Puri. It stars Siddharth as a Homosexual, which is a different and daring element to the usual Bollywood family feast.

Udta Punjab is a movie on the widespread drug abuse in Punjab. It stars Diljit Dosanjh, Alia Bhatt and also Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, together for the first time since Jab We Met.

Right from the first look, Raees has posed itself as a movie to look out for. Shahrukh Khan’s Baniya and Miyabhai dialogue has people curious. It also stars Pakistani star Mahira Khan who has made her name with sitcoms like Humsafar doing well in India. SRK plays a bootlegger in 80s Gujrat.

Salman Khan’s next is Sultan and based on the life of wrestler Sultan Ali Khan. Salman has been sporting the look for long, but the movie will release only in the middle of the year, alongside Raees.

Amir Khan’s next release after PK is Dangal which sees him playing wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters Babita and Geeta Phogat to become professional wrestlers in a patriarchal setup.
