The New Delhi World Book Fair, taking place at Pragati Maidan is one of the premier events in the world of books. It has over 500 literary titles, 1000 exhibitors, and 1 million visitors. The fair boasts of hosting the largest community of book lovers in the world.
While the World Book Fair is certainly a place to whet your appetite for good reading, here’s what you can look forward to apart from good reads.
World Book Fair 2016: Watch out for –
China- Guest of Honour Country
China participates with a large delegation of around 70 publishers, writers and scholars. Reflecting the spirit of logo and renaissance of civilization and, the guest country opens an era of literary exchanges between the two countries. China will present the discussions on digital publishing, exchange of copyright, translation program of Chinese work in Hindi and Indian works into Chinese.
One of the most visited places at the Fair is the Children’s Pavilion. Thousands of children from various schools visit the children’s pavilion to participate in various activities like drawing competitions, storytelling sessions, skits, meet your favorite authors, discussions etc. Besides, the pavilion also showcases some of the best recent publications for children from across the country.
Vividh Bharat, the theme program will bring together a display of 1000 books on philosophy, knowledge and literature from ancient to contemporary times. Besides, the specifically designed theme pavilion. This will host a cultural heritage including Many Languages One nation: reflection on Indian literature; science through Sanskrit. Also, the Pavilion will showcase many performances.

A book fair is not just a celebration of books but rather at its heart it celebrates authors, both established and emerging, writing not only in English and Hindi but also in other Indian Languages. This year too some of the well-known writers both critically acclaimed will engage in lively banters with the visitors.

Spread over an area of 36000 sqm. m. with about 1500 participants, loads of conversations and scores of discussions, seminars, book releases, workshops, activities and cultural performances, the NDWBF promises to be a grand affair and a treat for students, writers, book lovers and those associated with the publishing industry.
