Introducing the new devices, Mr. Manu Sharma, Director, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics said, Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will offer consumers the ultimate smartphone experience that set new benchmarks in the global mobile space, with cutting-edge design and extraordinary performance.”

Samsung Galaxy S7 specs:

  • 5.1 inch Always On display 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution
  • 1.8 GHz octa core Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 32/64 GB internal memory
  • 12 MP Rear camera
  • 5 MP front facing camera
  • Android v6.0 Marshmallow
  • Edge UX
  • 3000 mAh battery

The stellar thing about the Samsung Galaxy S7, apart from what it offers, is its price tag – Rs. 48,900 (32 GB version) about Rs. 10,000 less than Samsung Galaxy S6 at launch – Samsung has finally found a realistic price for its S-series handsets in India.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has many new features apart from carrying along ones from the Samsung Galaxy S6 such as Heart rate sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Barometer and metal design.

What you need to look out for is the 3D glass display, which is one of the clearest displays, that we have seen in the recent time. The 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Always on pressure sensitive display, imitates the Apple iPhone 6S, in typical Samsung fashion. It comes with a Quad HD display with 2560X1440p resolution.

Samsung also takes it a page from HTC’s notebook with its 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera. It has a small 12-megapixel sensor with larger 1.4 micron pixels. It collects more photons, so that you can shoot better in low-light scenario. In layman’s terms, it offers light adjustment while shooting pictures, like you would do on a DSLR. Along with this, the S7 also has a 5-megapixel front cam.

Another new feature of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is the Edge UX. It took time, but Samsung has finally given up on its TouchWiz UI.

In terms of memory, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has 4 GB RAM, 32/64 GB onboard memory and 200 GB expandable memory. It is amply supported by a 3000 mAh battery under the hood.

The handset is available in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium color options and will go on sale starting from March 18.

There are 2 special offers on the Samsung Galaxy S7 –

  • A free Gear VR to customers who pre-book the handset before March 17.
  • Special Vodafone Red plans for Vodafone consumers.

We will be posting our first impressions of the device soon.
