Honor 6x – Reviewing the Swagphone

Huawei under its mobile phone brand segment Honor has just launched the all new Honor 6x. Marketed as the SwagPhone by Honor , does the 6x really have the Swag which takes to capture the already competitive mid-price mobile phone segment is what everybody is inquisitive about.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is loaded with Huawei’s own EMUI 4.1 that’s pretty smooth. Powered by 1.7GHz octa-core Kirin 655 processor , Honor is offering two variants of its 6x series in India one is the 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM version for Rs 12,999 and the other one is the  4GB RAM and 64GB ROM version for Rs 15,999.

A 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, elegant design, smooth curves, slim 8.2mm body with metal frosted material give the device a stylish look and make it a phone that is good to carry in hand.

The feature that makes it stand out from it’s competitors especially the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Moto G4 is the dual-camera on the rear side of the mobile.Firstly there is a 12-megapixel sensor for capturing images and then there is another 2-megapixel one for adding depth effect to the images. The images taken by the Honor 6x are quite sharp, bright and crisp, the color quality of the images is also quite good and the pictures taken using wide aperture mode bring in a Dslr feel with them.

The fingerprint sensor placed just below the rear camera is quite accurate as well as is easy to use. However, a problem we sometimes faced due to its sensitivity was that while the mobile is in your pocket as it tends to read or accept fingerprints on its own and then causes problems to unlock.

The 3340 mAh battery is quite powerful and gives a screen time of one-one and a half day with moderate usage. It does not support fast charging or dash charging and neither the USB type C.

The Honor 6x is a dual sim device with a hybrid sim slot which gives it user an option to either use it as a dual sim phone or use an external memory card with a single sim card. This sometimes handicaps the customer.

With the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 entering the market the Honor 6x faces tough competition from its fellow Chinese compatriot which rides on the success of its predecessors. Moto G4 is another device that may pose a threat to its market as it has already established a good brand name for itself. However with its superb camera and user-friendly interface the Honor 6x is likely to boss anyone coming in its way

All in all the Honor 6x is a complete phone which is packed with all the features that a user desires, has a camera that is best in business at this point of time and is even priced competitively , making it a device that shouldn’t be missed if someone is looking for a mid-price ranged smartphone as one can expect full value for his money.

8.5/10 is what we give the Huawei Honor 6x .
